POLICE SURGERIES HINDLEY GREEN
The Hindley Green Neighbourhood Policing Team
is running police surgeries throughout 2010 at Bethel Community Centre, Atherton Road, Hindley Green.

Surgeries take place on the first Wednesday of each
month and run from 6.00pm to 7.00pm.
( Prior to the HGRA monthly meeting )

They are an opportunity for members of the community
to meet their local officers and raise any concerns they
may have about crime and anti-social behaviour in their area.

People can also express their views on how the community
is policed and receive crime prevention advice on a range of issues.

If you are unable to attend any of these surgeries and wish to speak to a police officer, please contact the Hindley Neighbourhood Policing Team on: 0161 856 7436

or e-mail: hindley.apt@gmp.police.uk

Dear Hindley Green Residents Association

The Cinnamon Trust is the national charity for the elderly and terminally ill and their pets. We seek to keep owner and pet together for as long as possible with the help of a national network of volunteers who assist when day to day care poses a problem.

We have a resident of Hindley Green asking for our support to walk their dog but not enough local volunteers to be able to help them, so wondered if you have a community newsletter or notice boards on which we could publicise our need for more help in the area.

Our aim is to relieve the owners of any worry concerning the welfare of their pets both during and after their own lifetime making us unique amongst charities.

All volunteers help in the ways that are most appropriate to them. Teams take it in turn to visit housebound owners to take the dog for a walk, they offer help with cat care, volunteers foster pets as one of their family when owners face a spell in hospital, they take pets to the vet, even clean out the budgie's cage. We take any problem posed in day to day care of pets. Contact Sally direct on 01736 758707 or email sallycollins@cinnamon.org.uk .

The volunteers can gain access to our volunteer page on our website or www.cinnamon.org.uk or by emailing us at volunteer@cinnamon.org.uk

Any help you are able to give will be very gratefully accepted.

Groundwork Lancashire West and Wigan are working with Friends of Amberswood and Wigan Council on a proposed natural play area for 0-10 year olds near the Crompton Street entrance to Amberswood Common and want to gauge the need for this facility in order to get funding.

The emphasis is on creating a safe yet exciting low maintenance environment using grassy mounds and wooden and stone play structures, natural grasses and low scramble nets, for under 10s. Structures are designed to improve children's balance, co-ordination and fitness level. In addition we have incorporated structures that encourage wildlife, so strengthening the children's relationship with nature. The naturalistic spaces will act as a springboard for children's engagement with the surrounding woodland and the natural environment and encourage them to take part in creative activity. Click to view Plan

The play area would also offer seating and an opportunity for people to socialise in a beautiful environment.
I have created a short questionnaire at:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VSLVRBB

We need to get as many surveys completed as possible. Is it possible that you could advertise this as widely as possible and ask people to fill out the questionnaire. Attached is a flyer for more information.

Many thanks
